How to Choose the Perfect Outfit for a Date

One of the most terrifying times (but also super fun and exciting time) to create the perfect look is when you’re getting glammed up for a date night! Whether you’ve been with your partner for 10 years or 10 minutes, you always want to look and, more importantly, FEEL your best for a night out on the town!

That’s why our Santa Clarita boutique is here to share our favorite fashion tips for creating the perfect date night outfit:

1.    Pick something you will FEEL fantastic in!

Ever had one of those moments when you went into a store and bought the super cute and trendy fitted crop top that you loved looking at but actually hated wearing? You second-guessed whether it was age-appropriate. You wondered if you should have stopped eating 3 weeks before wearing it. You tug on it. All. Night. Long. If so, that is not the item to pull out for a date night. On a date, you want to put your best self forward. You want to feel comfortable, confident, and at ease, and that all starts with wearing something that embodies each of those things.

Tip: Find a piece that you already love wearing and glam it up from there. Maybe it's the perfect white tee, a great pair of bell-bottoms, or a dress that is both comfortable and flattering. Start there and build your look from something you love and feel great wearing!

2.    Pick a statement piece that will elevate your look to match the occasion!

Because date nights are special, they’re even more fun to dress up for! Our Los Angeles stylists at Salt and Freckles recommend picking a piece that says something about who you are (in a fun way) and adds to your look! Accessories are the perfect way to add some funk and personality to any date night look.

Example: Pick a white tee shirt you love and pair it with some amazing, black high-waisted pants that you know are head turners. Then, throw in a killer hat, some funky boots, or a great jacket!

3.    Choose something a bit outside of your comfort zone!

Don’t be afraid to step outside of your fashion box a bit while still managing to stay true to you. Now, we aren’t saying to hit the MAC counter for full glam if you hate wearing makeup. Instead, opt-in for a fun pair of earrings or rock a bold lip to turn up the glam factor while still being you! Our LA stylists believe we find our best style stride when we dare to have a little fun with clothes and accessories while staying true ourselves. It’s the rule of thumb for any date night or daytime look!

The Bottom Line: Have fun, be the best version of you, and if the date goes horribly wrong, have a glass of vino and cheers to at least looking and feeling fabulous!
