Our Salty Sister Tries Out the Plasma Pen Fibroblasting Treatment
Hey Salty Babes...Kristen here! Sorry it has taken so long, but I’m so excited to finally share my thoughts, opinions, and results from the Plasma Pen (that procedure I underwent which Kasey teased pics with on our Instagram page). It’s been exactly one month since I had this treatment done, and I am absolutely LOVING the results! For those of you who haven’t heard of this or don’t know exactly what it is, let me explain it to you. (Also, see before, during, and after photos down below!)
What is the Plasma Pen Fibroblasting Treatment?
The Plasma Pen Fibroblasting Treatment is a cosmetic procedure that recently hit the market and helps to combat the following:
- Wrinkles
- Loss of collagen
- Sagging
- Crepey skin
Basically, this treatment is every girl’s dream treatment, am I right!?
How does the Plasma Pen Fibroblasting Treatment Work?
The Plasma Pen heats and disrupts all the way down to the dermal layer of your skin to create trauma to the tissue. In doing so, the pen creates little dots in the tissue that are tiny blood clots with a small scab over the top, which means the tissue is completely closed and prevents the likelihood of an infection. This damage targets the fibroblasts in the inner part of your dermis, which then creates white blood cells to repair the tissue damage. In short, the treatment helps recreate nice healthy collagen, and who doesn’t want that!?
Who Do Us Salty Babes Trust for This Treatment?
Cindy DeAngelis at DSM Aesthetics in Valencia is amazing! She is a client of mine (I’m a hair stylist at GM Coiffure), and once she told me about the Plasma Pen and the benefits of the treatment, I knew I had to give it a shot (see what I did there).
I’ve been getting Botox for the past few years to help soften the wrinkles and prevent new ones from coming, but around my lips and my “smile lines,” I needed some extra love. I’m not one for the frozen look so I didn’t want to do much more Botox or Dysport, and I wasn’t ready to commit to fillers quite yet. So, the Plasma Pen treatment seemed like the perfect in-between procedure for me. Since my treatment, I have noticed a huge difference with the lines on my lips, and my smile lines have almost disappeared! We also did it around my eyes and on my neck. (Did you know that most of the lines on our neck are caused from looking down at our phones? Crazy—And guilty.)
I showed up to the office (which is super cute), and Cindy numbed the area before beginning (and boy am I glad that she did)! I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but she hit an area that wasn’t numbed and I just about jumped off the bed. Any area that was numbed I merely felt some pressure but nothing uncomfortable at all. It took about 90 minutes to complete my eyes, lips, laugh lines, and neck. After I was done, I felt zero discomfort and still nothing when the numbing subsided.
What Is Aftercare Like for This Treatment?
The first night, my face was a little dry, but the products Cindy gave me in my aftercare kit helped. Over the next few days, the dots scabbed over and fell off. I’m not gonna’ lie, the first three to four days, I felt like Mike Tyson’s tattoo artist got ahold of my face, and it was quickly the conversation piece at work and around town!! Around day six, my face started to look normal again, which was perfect timing since I was headed out of town for work. But being me, and not thinking it through, I decided I needed a little color before leaving and used my self-tanner. Well, that was a mistake because the dotted area was still dry and absorbed the tanner more. Needless to say, I was left with dark brown dots all over my face (lesson learned: allow for the full 7-10 day down time as recommended. I'm the worst rule follower).
Overall, Did We Love the Treatment?
Needless to say, I'd rate the Plasma Pen Treatment overall an 8 out of 10. Cindy was incredible and had amazing knowledge and was so professional! The only downside for me was the visual scabbing effect. (It’s definitely something I would recommend planning around as its not much different than when you get an intense peel.) I noticed the biggest difference on my lip lines (and lots of people have asked me what I did to get my lips looking so great). I love that I was able to achieve a natural looking, more youthful appearance without having to do anything wildly invasive. This is a great option for someone not wanting to commit to fillers but still wanting to achieve amazing results! The best part? The Plasma Pen actually rebuilds collagen so your results will be longer lasting than more temporary anti-aging practices like Botox and fillers. I LOVE that!
